“Papa…” Bae knocked gently on his bedroom door. It was the day before Veteran’s Day and every year before he’d gone down to Massachusset’s to visit his adoptive father’s grave, but this year he wasn’t sure if he could go. He was living with his Papa (who didn’t even know about Ezra) and he wouldn’t feel right leaving him alone. But he still wanted to at least talk to him about it. “Can I come in?”
“No one is going to kill me. And they’d be fools to harm Belle or Rose.”
Bae sighed and nodded. “Okay,”
“I’m not everybody.”
“Not this time. I promise.”
